On my way up and down the Burin peninsula, I often stopped here to watch this work in progress . It grieves me how confederation put an end to the great creative skills of our people that were honed by centuries of meeting the many and varied challenges of surviving in this bountiful but demanding land: skills that now find expression only in recollection through song and dance and other genre of the artistic world that thrive on the memories. Sadly, this generation has no such legacy to bequeath.
